American Red Cross of Augusta's 18th Annual Boot Scoot Boogie Bash a Huge Success for the Community

Augusta, GA February 7, 2012 The American Red Cross of Augusta is pleased to announce that the 18th Annual Boot Scoot Boogie Bash held on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the Savannah River Pavilion was the most successful Boot Scoot Boogie Bash ever. Over $88,000 was raised for the Red Cross.

The money raised at this event will help our Chapter provide food, clothing, shelter, and emotional support to individuals and families that have been affected by a disaster, said Jennifer Pennington, Executive Director of the Augusta Chapter.

From July, 2011 to January, 2012, the American Red Cross of Augusta has responded to 105 fires and has provided assistance to 396 individuals. Annually, our dedicated volunteers are responding, on average, to a local fire every other day, adds Pennington.

We were thrilled to have a sellout crowd at this years Boot Scoot Boogie event, says Andrea Usry, Committee Chair. It was wonderful to see so many generous individuals take part in our live and silent auctions, which will allow us to give back to local families who are suffering. We were so thankful to have the support of many local companies and businesses that donated their goods and services to help make this event so successful. We are looking for the momentum from this years event to carry into next year.

The major corporate sponsor for this year's event was Pollock Company. Other sponsors included SME, Augusta Industrial Inc., Gold Mech and Queensborough Bank & Trust. Media sponsors were WJBF News Channel 6 and Kicks 99.
